Results of the KiGGS Baseline Study

17,641 girls and boys aged 0 to 17 participated in the KiGGS baseline study together with their parents during the three-year period in which the study was conducted (2003-2006).

The participation rate (response) amounted to 66.6 per cent. The results of the KiGGS baseline study have been and will continue to be published in stages:

Basic publication

A first comprehensive overview of the results can be found in the “basic publication” which appeared as a special issue of the journal “Bundesgesundheitsblatt” (“Federal Publication on Health, Health Research and Health Protection”) in May 2007.

Reference percentiles for growth and blood pressure from KiGGS 2003-2006
This publication comprises detailed figures and tables on KiGGS growth and blood pressure percentiles including a comparison with growth standards currently used in Germany.

Results brochure

A portrayal of the study results that is intelligible to a general audience is additionally provided in the form of the “Results Brochure”. The Results Brochure was sent to all study participants at the beginning of 2007. The document is available only in German.

KiGGS-Symposium
